Morgan House in the former Northumbrian mining village of Bowburn, is a new purpose-built care home for older people with easy road links to nearby Durham city centre. Whilst the home is at the heart of the quiet village, the A1 (M) is just a few minutes away.
The two-storey building which specialises in residential, nursing and dementia care has four units named after the coal seams well known in the village – Hutton, Tilley, Low Main and Harvey.
Each 20-bedded unit is a self-contained community and has its own lounges, dining rooms and fully-equipped bathrooms with the latest facilities to ensure the health and safety of residents with limited mobility. Each bedroom has en-suite washing facilities.
Regular activities are organised to enable residents to pursue new hobbies and maintain familiar past-times such as art and crafts, flower arranging and games. There are also visits from musicians and entertainers and trips to local landmarks and attractions.
