Buccleuch Care Centre
Within walking distance of Hawick High Street and in the West End area of the town, Buccleuch House is a residential care home for older people.
Originally built as a Dominican Convent in the early 1900s, the house no longer has direct religious links and has been developed as a care home since 1988. Now the original character and beauty of the building is a stunning backdrop for the care home which has 18 single bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities.
Buccleuch House has undergone recent extensive refurbishment and redecoration. Modern facilities ensure the safety and dignity of residents, whatever their individual needs.
Our aim at Buccleuch is to create a home from home for our residents and everyone coming to live with us is encouraged to bring with them favourite pieces of furniture, photography and personal possessions for their own rooms.
We take great care in ensuring that our residents live the lives they want to at Buccleuch House whether that’s quietly enjoying life-long hobbies on their own or joining in with the regular activities and entertainment at the home. Buccleuch is on the same site as the nearby St Margaret’s Nursing Home.
St.Margarets Care Centre
St Margaret’s Nursing home in Hawick is in the West End area of the town within walking distance of the town centre.
The building, and that of the nearby Buccleuch residential care home, was originally built as a Dominican Convent in the early 1900s. The large house became a nursing home for older people twenty years ago and St Margaret’s no longer has direct religious links.
Over the years, the character of the building has been preserved whilst the interior has been modernised and re-decorated to provide cosy and comfortable surroundings with the latest equipment to ensure the health and safety of residents with limited mobility. The home’s 30 rooms all have en-suite bathroom facilities.
Our aim at St Margaret’s is to create a homely atmosphere coupled with the security and specialist nursing requirements that individuals may have.
We run a varied programme of activities for residents to join in with as and when they choose. Our regular visitors include musicians and entertainers and, for those who prefer peace and quiet, we have dedicated lounges set aside for relaxation.
